Otaku seeks like-minded person for discussion of decent Anime shows/movies.

Da list:

Cowboy Bebop - I've seen 'em all. Twice. The movie, too.
Trigun - Watched first 8 or so episodes. Haven't gotten around to rest.
Neon Genesis: Evangelion - Ditto above.
Escaflowne - First four episodes.
The Big O - First four episodes. Jury is still out on this one.
Inuyasha - Watched the first 3 episodes and... *shrug* There are just too damn many episodes. If the entire series is worth it, I might consider it.

Classics I haven't seen yet:
Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Vampire Hunter D, ummm can't think of any others.

You may not like these or think these are "decent" but It'll give you an idea of what I've watched (either in part or in whole). I usually go to SunCoast Video because they have the best selection, but it's a pain in the arse to scrounge up that much money each time (DVDs are usually $25 or so a pop).

So if you have a better idea for obtaining Anime, please let me know.

Depends on what you are after Quality or Quantity?

Also, I have gotten into liking the Fansubbing arena, get the latest Anime from Japan with English Subtitles unless you know your japanese (plan on learning after college when I go over there).
Torrent is the latest thing for obtaining the Fansubbed kind (unlicensed Japanese Anime with English Subtitles) such as Naruto, Bleach, Beet, etc. even the GTO Live series!!

Do watch a series called Bo-bobobo, it is downright weird and hilarious!!

Also I used to obtain the Hong Kong or Thailand(?) copies of Anime which are good for quantity but their quality is poor, but don't get the Japanese only with English subtitles because the english subbing is 9.9 times out 10 horrid!!

Is where I usually head when I want quantity over quality.

Otherwise, check with Amazon.com on the quality versions they usually have them for less.

Oh, before I forget there are all sorts of series lengths, 1-13 is usually a OAV or one season show, 1-24/25/26 is usually a two season or TV series show, than you have ones like DBZ or Inyuyasha that run 200+ episodes!! (Inyuyasha is in the 120+ range right now, Naruto 107, One-Piece 120+,etc.)

Hope this helps!!

Series I recommend:
Martian Sucessor Nadesico - Comedy that makes fun of Big Robot Anime (you can get the big bundle from whereever you can find ADV DVDs and usually it is not that bad, I think I paid $50 at best buy for the bundle which contains the whole series episodes 1-26)
Getter Robo Armageddon 1-13 - Big Robot Anime (I liked it.)
FLCL 1-6 - Comedy (Fooly Cooly) is a must see one, great music and great action, I loved it though it is only six episodes!!
Hellsing 1-13 - Horror/Action (maybe if you like Vampires)
Escaflowne 1-26 - Fantasy/Big Robots/Love Story(?) (Okay series, some parts good some parts not bad but not good either)
Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer (if you can find it cheap, otherwise forget it and even than I would consider it to be more of cult classic)
Robot Carnival (short films based on Robots not too bad)
Tank Police! (Look at reviews and info for this one)
Gasaraki 1-26 (good parts but more of a serious series some don't like it)
Ghost in the Shell Series (it is on Adult Swim on Saturday nights they just started airing it yesterday, awesome!!)
Berserk 1-25 - Medieval War/Horror (First part series and it has a dozy of a cliffhanger but awesome gory series though the animation looks sort of dated)

Sorry for any misspellings!!

I am sure you will find others that peak your interest and I might do a post about Anime I have seen and recommend later this week (most likely Tuesday or Wednesday).

Good to know we got Otakus onboard at JU!!

Ghost in the Shell is good, I highly recommend it. Vampire Hunter D was ok, but it felt to me like it was a small part of a bigger whole that just wasn't there. The Big O didn't appeal to me, I only saw the first three episodes. And Escaflowne wasn't that good either, it had it's nice parts but on the whole I didn't like it. Read or Die, Love Hina, and Chobits are three series that I do like.
