In my even more humble opinion.

Rather than making this a long-as-heck list, I'll give you my top nine picks.

Why nine? Because ten is so overdone and eleven would be too predictable.

Movies:
9. Electric Dreams - Go ahead. Ask me.
8. The Goonies - I always liked Adventure films. This one is for the kid in all of us.
7. The Godfather I & II - Two movies you can't refuse. Avoid the third one.
6. Star Wars - The original version, if you please.
5. The Shawshank Redemption - Such an important movie on many levels.
4. Dead Poet's Society - Ditto
3. Stand By Me - Not usually a fan of King's movies but this one had me from "Hello."
2. The Empire Strikes Back - So much better than all the other Star Wars movies combined.
1. Shaun of the Dead - My #2 used to be #1 until I saw this extremely well done movie.

TV Shows:
9. Friends - A guilty pleasure I'd probably never admit to. Oops. I just did.
8. "V" - Back in the day series about alien invasion. Pretty well done, too.
7. Quantum Leap - I kinda miss this show. Even though it was kinda cheesy.
6. Everwood - Classy drama that I don't get to see much. I lost track of it, though.
5. Smallville - Ditto above. Have first two seasons on DVD.
4. Dead Like Me - Quirky drama. Loved the first season. Ain't too sure about the second.
3. The Simpsons - This one should be pretty obvious.
2. Family Ties - Another back in the day series.
1. Cowboy Bebop - The. Best. Show. Ever.

Note: I'll have no comments about how great the O.C. is, and how I must see it, in this article. Do so and I may just stick my tongue out at you.

I think Electric Dreams would be among my worst movies of all time list - it's just so cheesy and BAD!!!

But I'm totally with you on Shawshank Redemption, Dead Poets Society and even Stand by Me.

Friends and the Simpsons are timeless and Family Ties was just great fun - especially growing up. My husband loves cowboy bebop he'd watch it in bed on his laptop while I slept. And I've never seen the OC - I watch CSI instead.

most people assume "Electric Dreams" is the title of a porno and look at me strangely. You'd have to be the first person NOT to do that.

I'll admit, it was rather cheesy. But ya gotta take this into consideration: I'm a lot like Miles in that I'm pretty much a nerd(y) type who always falls for the girl next door type. So I guess the ending, where Miles gets the girl and all, was more fun for me 'cause you don't see many movies where that happens (the nerdy one gets the girl). Also, the soundtrack was just too damn infectious for its own good. If you ignore the Boy George numbers.

Can one really say enough about Cowboy Bebop? I think you should watch it. Twice. The movie too.

The movies list must include Das Boot, Road to Perdition, The Silence of the Lambs, The Boondock Saints, The Usual Suspects, and American Beauty.

Leaving Seinfeld off the TV list is a travesty.

In total agreement about The Shawshank Redemption, and Dead Poet Society, although it has spurred an annoying copycat following.

I figured you were nerdy when Electric Dreams showed up. I like that one as well!

My Favorite movie tho is Paint your Wagon, followed closely by Its a Wonderful Life.

TV shows? It use to be ST DS9 until they went to war. Now it is ST TNG, Followed by The Original, MASH, then Voyager, ST DS9, and finally Enterprise. Then SG1. Guess you can see I am a SF Geek!
