Catchin' up with da games.
Current game-related observations:
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 3 (Chaos Theory) Delayed to March 2005. I'm not surprised, frankly. I am actually happy over this decision, because I was thinking "isn't November a little too soon?" I'm sure Ubisoft knows what they're doing (I own several of their titles, and no, I don't work for them).
Evil Genius. It'll tide me over until someone, somewhere releases Dungeon Keeper 3 (I know, I can hear it already: "let it go!")
Cowboy Bebop PS2 out October 2005. All I wanna know is... what happened? This game has screen-shots, so I was hoping it was somewhere near release... but I suppose I should know by now that screen-shots don't mean anything.
I just bought Evil Genius, and needless to say I'm a bit disappointed. It's fun and all, but it can be a little hectic trying to keep track of everything (or maybe I'm just not Evil enough... heh).
Two other games I bought recently were Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War and Rome: Total War (am I sensing a theme here?) I knew nothing about Warhammer before the day I bought the game, and needless to say I compare the game to the likes of Starcraft, Warcraft, Rise of Nations, and Command & Conquer. In fact, it's really an amalgamation of those games, but with really cool mechs.
Rome: Total War strikes me as being much like Civ III with the ability to participate in massive real-time battles. Just seeing those units on the battlefield... I think today I'll have another go at the prologue... I came this close to annihilating the Greeks, but for some weird reason that wasn't explained to me, I lost the game. Maybe Rome decided I was getting too big for my own good (I had the largest, most powerful faction).
Current position: somewhere between admiring the new scenery in Myst IV, swearing at the TV while playing TIger Woods 2005, unlocking political candidates in the Political Machine, and plotting world domination in Evil Genius.
Favorite new sport game: FIFA 2005 (Soccer = true football).
Mad about you: Tactical RPG games like Disgaea. The world needs more of these (I have La Pucelle and Phantom Brave).
What the heck: Katamari Damacy... a game about rolling a ball around... weirdness.
Trapped near: the inner circle of thought.
